Sarah Ward
Sarah Ward is a Westcountry Rivers Trust co-creation specialist based in the Exeter area. Sarah is also a chartered environmentalist, a CIWEM Honorary Fellow, co-author of Alternative Water Supply Systems, founder of RainShare and co-founder of the WEM Pride network.

Karen Andrews, EA LGBTQ Network Chair
Karen Andrews is a Senior Advisor at the Environment Agency and Chair of their LGBT+ Network. Karen’s career with the Environment Agency spans 23 years. With that comes a wealth of knowledge about the organisation, the industries that we regulate and the challenges people who are LGBT+ face. She joined the EA as a Hazardous Waste Officer, then quickly progressed to a more senior Officer role within International Waste Shipments and from there went on to become a Team Leader at Area and then National level. She’s held several Senior Advisor roles and represented the UK at various international meetings. As Chair of the Environment Agency’s LGBT+ Network, she supports LGBT+ colleagues and strives for greater LGBT+ equality.

Professor Cara Beale
Professor Cara Beale is an Associate Professor at Griffith University in Queensland Australia. Her teaching and research interests include environmental health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples environmental health, Pacific Island community water management, resilient & sustainable water and water-related energy management, behaviour change and community engagement, smart metering and big data, schools water efficiency management.
Mike Wheeler
Mike Wheeler is a Senior Water Engineer at the Canal & River Trust and a Chartered CIWEM member. Mike joined the Trust in 1996 as a Lock Keeper and for the past 11 years has worked in the Water Management Team. Mike is a ‘Rainbow Ally’ at the Trust, helping to champion diversity and inclusion within the organisation.
Colin Liptrot MBE
Colin Liptrot MBE is a Flood & Coastal Risk Management officer in the Environment Agency’s North West Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation team. Colin has been a national lead ally for the internal LGBT+ Network for many years and received an MBE for his services to diversity and inclusion.
