He was the Founding Chair of Natural Resources Wales and was a Past CIWEM President. He plays an active part in the Institution’s Past Presidents Group, where his mantra for water and environment conservation is: Learn from the past, plan for the future, but act in the present!

Peter has worked in service delivery and regulation of water conservation since 1965. He has fulfilled many roles in IWPC, IWEM and CIWEM. He still contributes to the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators as a Past Master, and to the Institute of Water as a Fellow.

During his career Peter’s roles include Founding Chair of the Utility Regulator of Northern Ireland, Board Member of the Port of London Authority, Trinity House Lighthouse Authority, the Environment Agency and the Royal Commission for Environmental Pollution. He was a Visiting Professor at Imperial College and Anglia Ruskin University (where he was also a governor). He was also a founder of the Society for the Environment.
