Event description

Dr Clive Walmsley will provide an insight into spending almost two weeks at CoP26 and reflections on its outcome, principally from a Welsh perspective. In the run up to CoP many organisations and the media were focussed on climate change like never before. But, over six months later, looking back, what impetus has it provided, and how has it influenced our policy and action?

This event is being jointly supported by ICE Wales Cymru.

Part of the CIWEM Climate Emergency Adaption & Resilience digital series.

About the speaker

Dr Clive Malmsley

Clive has spent 20 years working on climate change in Wales. Currently, he leads for Cyfoeth Naturial Cymru Natural Resources Wales (NRW) on strategic climate change issues, providing expert advice to ensure that risks and impacts are evaluated and managed internally, and advises externally on the implications of climate change for Wales. A key focus is to ensure an evidence-based approach to integrating both mitigation and adaptation into the work of NRW and ensure that climate change is addressed through the sustainable management of natural resources.

Clive chairs the UK Inter-agency Climate Change Group that provides coordination across the UK statutory environmental agencies. He coordinated the Group’s involvement in a range of events at CoP26. He previously undertook ecological research, specialising in coastal plant ecology and habitat restoration. Clive is a former member of the Climate Change Commission for Wales and was director of outreach for the Climate Change Consortium for Wales.
