Event description

The CIWEM Metropolitan branch are delighted to be supporting the WET Networks series of events. The June webinar will examine river water quality and its impact on wild swimming.

Sport England recently identified a growth in the number of people taking to the country’s lakes, rivers and seas. ‘Wild swimming’ (also known as open water swimming) is any form of swimming that takes place in a natural body of water, rather than man-made water.

The keynote speaker for the evening is Richard Aylard, sustainability director of water technology at Thames Water.

After Richard’s talk, we will hear from the following technology companies who will review the role technology can play in helping to clean up our rivers, lakes and streams, making them more attractive and safe for leisure activities, including wild swimming:

  • Arup
  • WRc
  • Sentry
  • The Great Bubble Barrier
  • Out Door Swimming Society

Following the talks, there will be an opportunity to liaise with the presenting companies and network by logging into one of the presenter breakout rooms.
