24 April 2020 - 26 April 2020
The Rivers and Coastal Group (RCG) have organised a visit to Belfast this year with two exciting field visits planned to the East Belfast Flood Alleviation Scheme and the Lagan Weir. The weekend will also feature talks and activities around the theme of CIWEM's recently declared 'Climate and Ecological Emergency'.
This year is said to be one of the last chances we have to plan to manage and prevent catastrophic climate change from occurring. With the UK's exit from the EU this is of upmost importance to plan for the future and understand what practices we should look to adopt and what we wish to change. Collaboration is key to achieving this.
The Conference on the Saturday will be held in the MAC which is an award-winning cultural hub in Belfast. The setting is well equipped for collaborative discussions surrounding what steps professionals can and should be adopting. We have some confirmed speakers from RPS, AECOM and Mott MacDonald to provide case studies of exemplar schemes.Delegates have the option to reside at the Ramada Encore Hotel which is located a minute's walk away from the conference venue.
Last year’s event was oversubscribed so book early to avoid disappointment. Accommodation and food are provided from Friday evening meal to Sunday lunch inclusive.
Please note the timings listed above are tentative and subject to change. Further information will be provided shortly. If you have any questions in the meantime please contact the events team.
