The Scottish branch invites you to an evening talk looking at the role of a chartered engineer and chartered environmentalist within CIWEM.
We will focus on the relevant project experience required to gain chartership and beyond. The talk will be led by John Gall, an environmental engineer with over eight years’ experience in environmental consultancy. John’s experience is highly varied including engineering design, geo-environmental investigation (including geotechnical considerations, contaminated land assessment and remediation), environmental impact assessment, demolition, river restoration, surface water management, wastewater design and landfill construction. John has also undertaken the role of Placement Manager within Engineers without Borders (EWB) for projects in Nepal and Cambodia.
About the speaker
John is a chartered engineer (C.Eng), environmentalist (C.Env) and water & environmental manager (C.WEM) through the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM). Having studied civil engineering at Edinburgh University and progressing for several years towards chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), John will discuss why CIWEM was the right fit for him to gain chartership and what benefits a civil and environmental engineer can provide to a project. John will discuss some project examples used to gain chartership and lessons learned throughout the process.
The talk commences at 6:30pm with networking and refreshments available from 6:00pm.
