Hosted by the APM and the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch
Event description
This webinar will walk you
through the Shimna Flood Alleviation Scheme, from start to finish,
demonstrating how it will alleviate the flood risk to affected properties,
infrastructure and businesses in Newcastle, County Down.
Our first speaker, Alan Reddick
will examine why the scheme is needed and the current flood risks to Newcastle.
Then Karol McCusker will provide
an overview of the final proposed scheme after telling us about how the design
was developed and the sensitive environment issues and other constraints encountered.
The final presentation will look
at the construction phase. Gerad McGolgan will talk about the programme
overview, how the scheme meets the project constraints and the key stakeholders’
technical approach. We will learn about the utilisation of Dawson WAM’s
specialist piling equipment, the local community engagement that was undertaken
and there will be an update on how the project is progressing to date.
This joint event with APM Northern Ireland Branch and the CIWEM Northern Ireland branch is suitable for professionals with any level of experience.
Part of the CIWEM Flood Resilience digital series.
