Event description

Although there are over 6,000 suicides in the UK each year, suicide is not inevitable. Research suggests that around a third of all suicides take place outside the home, in a public location.

Suicides in public places may be more easily preventable than those that occur in the privacy of the home. There are a number of effective steps that can be taken to prevent public places being used for suicidal acts and to increase the chances of last-minute intervention.

This seminar will explore how our design and operation of public places can incorporate suicide prevention measures.

Part of the CIWEM Well-being digital series.

Whatever you're going through, a Samaritan will face it with you. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. https://www.samaritans.org/
