Hosted by the CIWEM Central Southern branch
Event description
This webinar will review the SuDS-iQ and Rainwater Management Platform (RMP) projects, two new schemes on Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) funded by the Ofwat Innovation Fund.
SuDS-iQ will be an easy-to-use accessible evaluation tool that will support the design of SuDS to prevent runoff from entering sewerage networks and to protect waterbodies from erosion, flood risk and pollution. The tool will use present day and future rainfall time-series, as well as design storms, to quantify SuDS benefits.
Key features of SuDS-iQ will include:
- Decision support for option appraisal
- Asset definition tool to capture, save and share SuDS asset data consistently
- SuDS scheme costs and carbon estimator;
- SuDS performance monitoring data portal
- Innovative mechanism to improve representation of SuDS performance in water company models
The RMP will be a free, user-friendly, online platform that will transform rainwater management. It will offer updated good practices, technical guidance, and tools to help manage rainwater where it falls, prevent pollution, use rainfall as a resource, and boost climate resilience for the benefit of people and the environment. The RMP will allow a refresh of one of the cornerstones of the industry, the CIRIA SuDS Manual (C753).
Both projects will deliver essential tools and resources to support the UK Government’s Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs’ (Defra) new standards for SuDS and to underpin the successful and efficient delivery of Nature-based Solutions as part of Ofwat’s Asset Management Plan (AMP) delivery programmes.
CIWEM members and non-members are welcome to attend this webinar.
Part of the CIWEM Flood Resilience and Adaption, Nature-based Solutions and Water Governance series.
