Hosted by the CIWEM East Anglian branch
Event description
Join our lunchtime webinar to learn about the Nene Water Management Strategy, which aims to create a 100-year vision and asset management plan for managing the waters between Northampton and Peterborough.
The approach emphasises the river’s societal, environmental and economic benefits, such as flood management, abstraction, navigation, natural capital, growth and community well-being. This supports objectives for sustainable investment and funding diversification, considering climate change, population growth, and land use change. The work involves collaborating with stakeholders across the region to inform positive outcomes for nature and society.
The talk will discuss:
- The need for the strategy and its timing
- Development and governance of the strategy
- Plans for the next 12 months and beyond
- Challenges of involving over 30 partners and representing interests from 300+ stakeholders
- Professional and personal reflections on the strategy and her career
Part of the CIWEM Catchment Management, Flood Resilience and Adaption, and Climate Emergency Adaption and Resilience series.
