Event description

All treated water storage tanks shall undergo inspection, maintenance and cleaning every 5 years to guarantee compliance with Regulation 28(4) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016. Southern Water Engineering and Technical Solutions team was appointed in 2017 to engineer solutions that enable the isolation of these assets without compromising water quality nor supply. The isolation of some of these tanks is quite challenging, requiring from temporary and/or permanent new installations, to trials, network modifications and/or control philosophy adjustments that are to be agreed by numerous directorates within the business.

Attendees of the event will have the opportunity to get the latest information on Southern Water’s holistic approach to enabling the cleaning, maintenance, and inspection of some of its most challenging treated water storage vessels and interact with David Fernandez Lopez-Rey, the process engineer, who has been supporting these works over the last five years. Delegates will be able to network with other colleagues from the water industry and with CIWEM members.

Part of the CIWEM Environment Quality & Pollution series.

Who should attend:

  • Water company employees, consultants, regulators, and professionals working in drinking water quality, treatment, and supply
  • CIWEM members
  • Anyone interested in the water sector
