CIWEM - UDG Training Day - Spring 2025
Water Quality Foundations – Understanding and quantifying sources and receptors within urban drainage and the wider aquatic environment
Expectations of both the customer, and society at large of their urban drainage provisions are evolving. Flow and load from intermittent (overflows) and continuous (final effluents) discharges to receiving water bodies continues to be headline news and it is one of the major factors in the largest investment programme in the history of the UK Water Industry in AMP8.
This creates a stepped increase in the need to understand and quantify the impact of these discharges, in the context of wider environmental factors, such that we recognise all contributory elements to water bodies not achieving desired, and legally required, standards. Through this knowledge successful solutions to urban drainage contributions can be scoped, designed, and delivered.
This interactive training day (split over two half days) provides an opportunity for those involved, and who will be involved, in developing tools and models to assess water quality impact to gain awareness, explore a range of environments, desired standards, and approaches to understand impact, and workshop within virtual and physical hubs through worked examples. As with all CIWEM UDG training days it will also enable early career professionals to engage with, and learn from, their peers and experienced professionals in their sector.
We will soon open bookings, if you want to be the first one to be notified register your interest here.
