Call for Speakers

The ICE/CIWEM Flooding in Wales Conference 2026 will take place on 25 November 2026 in Cardiff.

The event programme is still being developed and the final list of speakers confirmed but we’re keen to hear your ideas for content. If you would also like to express an interest in speaking at the event, please get in touch.

Call For Speakers

We want to hear how innovations and advances in professional practice are creating better outcomes for people, communities and properties affected by flooding, as well as sharing experiences and best practice from those working to manage flood risk in Wales.

For this year’s conference, we would be particularly keen to hear about:

• Developments in policy and national guidance
• Surface water flood risk and the implementation of SUDs
• Rural resilience and land management
• Investment in flood infrastructure and prevention
• Catchment based approaches
• The climate and nature emergency

Application Process

Provide an abstract of 200-400 words and a copy of your CV.

Deadline: 07 August 2026.

Applications will be shortlisted by the ICE/CIWEM Flooding in Wales Committee, who will aim to build an engaging and varied programme for our audience. If selected, you will be asked to provide further details, including a biography and high-res headshot.

Key Dates

• 07 August: call for speaker submission deadline
• 21 August: successful applicants are contacted
• Early September: final programme announced
• 13 November: deadline for final presentations

Speakers

Being an in-person event, speakers will be required to present in the Conference, and to interact with the audience, fellow speakers and session chairs. Please note that the Flooding in Wales team will recommend the appropriate session format for each successful speaker in order to build an engaging and varied programme.

All event sessions will be recorded, and by participating you consent to the content being shared by the organisers.

You are strongly advised to obtain permission to present from your partners and management as appropriate in advance of making the submission.
