Would you like to learn more about work to alleviate flooding in Birmingham? Would you like the opportunity to get ‘hands on’ and play a part in actively reducing the risk? If so come and join us for an Environment Day at the current Perry Barr and Witton scheme.
There are approximately 1,400 properties at risk from this section of the River Tame. The Environment Agency, supported by Birmingham City Council, is currently carrying out work to repair and improve existing defences and build new ones. This includes increasing the capacity of an existing flood storage area in the Sandwell Valley
The Environment Agency will be holding the event at the Forge Mill site and are calling on people’s gardening skills to help reduce future maintenance costs and clear Himalayan Balsam along the River Tame. The day will start with an introduction to the scheme and induction to the site. All site activities will be suspended to allow the Environment Day to take place. Lunch will be provided.
If you are planning on driving, please use Swan Pool car park (B71 4AD) and a mini bus will take you to the main site.Book now
Please note there is limited capacity at this event. Bookings must be made through 'My CIWEM' using the above booking link and are only confirmed once you have clicked ‘proceed & submit’ in the cart and received a confirmation email.
