In the run up to the globe's most important meeting on climate change, the #CIWEMtalksCOP26 series asks thought leaders from the water and environmental industry and beyond to answer a common question: what do you most want COP26 to deliver? Here we'll be serialising their answers.

Juan José Martin Bravo (also known as Juanjo Martinb) is a sustainability activist from Chile and co-founder and president of Cverde. He represents Chile as its first young negotiator at international UN climate talks.

"I would love to see the conferences of the parties end subsidies to fossil fuels, industrial fishing, forestry, and industrial agriculture – the very industries destroying our planet and yes, receiving public money for it.

"Achieving the ecocentric understanding of what this is all about, I still see COPs being very anthropocentric. Countries must take responsibility for what they still do to ecosystems and all life forms and stop it all.

"There are many ways in which human beings can – and know how to – live in harmony with the rest of nature; this has been a problem of will for too long, already.

"Especially from this COP, among many other things I want us to finally achieve the mechanisms to make the financial world align with all this once, and for all."
