The 2021 Flood and Coast virtual conference and expo is taking place online from 28 June–1 July. Produced by partners CIWEM and the Environment Agency, the event brings together flooding and coastal erosion risk-management (FCERM) professionals to discuss innovative ways to work with affected communities to better withstand climate change.
The four-day event features interactive sessions, live exhibition booths and networking opportunities.
Caroline Douglass, Sakthi Karunanithi, Katie Kimber, Rachel Maskell and Helen Jackson will present learnings from managing the double threat to communities from flooding and Covid-19, exploring what the last year has taught us about how communities can recover, build back better, and become more resilient to climate change.
Building social resilience through effective community partnerships is a big part of the Flood and Coast’s initiative of looking at community-driven action and response. The event will examine how organisations can work effectively with communities to understand and tackle future flood risk and to select the mechanisms that best support collaborative working and engage the right people in the right places at the right times.
Flood and Coast 2021 will look at innovation and efficiency in flood modelling and forecasting, examples of SuDS successes and challenges, managing multiple risks and how to better plan and maintain assets. It will discuss the benefits of resilient development and property flood resilience, and present behavioural insights and feedback from the National PFR Pathfinders.
You can purchase a four-day pass for the whole conference, featuring VIP access to all sessions, networking and the exhibition, or one-day tickets for specific sessions. We are also offering visitor passes to access the networking and expo areas. To register for the event, and for full programme details, click here.
