With key climate change events include COP15 and COP26 fast approaching there couldn't be a better time to get formal recognition for the work you do protecting the planet.
And this is where our brand-new registration from the Society for the Environment - Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) - comes in.
Available to MCIWEM members, with applications open now, REnvP recognises the knowledge, skills and commitment of professionals who work to protect and enhance the environment.
Whatever
field of the water and environment sector (WEM) you work in, you will be having an impact on the
broad range of adaptation and mitigation measures needed to meet both
national and global action climate action commitments.
Becoming REnvP is the ideal way to celebrate this. As well as achieving a career milestone REnvP registration will showcase your capabilities to existing and future employers and clients, and help to inspire current and future generations of WEM professionals.
You may also want to use REnvP as a clear pathway to environmental Chartership, as competencies between it and those of the Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) are directly linked.
Commenting on the REnvP registration CIWEM's head of membership Sophie Dunjako said: "We’re
in the middle of a climate and ecological emergency and as an
institution we have recognised the existential crises humankind faces
from global overheating, increased instance of extreme weather events
and wildlife loss.
"Our membership of water and environmental
professionals hold the key to developing and implementing solutions to
this emergency. REnvP provides a brilliant opportunity for our MCIWEM's
to demonstrate their competence and showcase their commitment as an
environmental professional to meet the challenges we are facing."
Society for the Environment chief executive Dr Emma Wilcox added: “We need those with proven, up to date knowledge to tackle the climate and environmental emergencies of today – REnvP registrants will play a key role in successfully overcoming these challenges.”
