President's Award 2024 nominations now open

We are pleased to announce the relaunch of our President’s Award.

The President’s Award recognises members who, as volunteers, deliver the core elements of our Royal Charter, but go far above and beyond. They are made in celebration of commitment and contribution at the highest level.

The judges will be looking for achievements and impact in one or more of the following areas:

• life-long commitment (at least 25 years),
• early-careers commitment,
• bringing new ideas and innovation,
• outstanding performance,
• driving diversity, or
• supporting our international ambitions.

The President's Award celebrates CIWEM members who consistently uphold the values of our Institution. The winners will be inspiring and motivated professionals who show passion for their work, the environment and the communities they serve.

By nominating someone, you will highlight the achievements of individuals positively impacting our sector. You will showcase the nominee's achievements to their employer and the wider industry, giving them the recognition they deserve.

Nominations will be judged by a Presidential review panel with winners announced during the annual presidential handover and other key events in the CIWEM calendar.

CIWEM President Bushra Hussain says:

"Whether you are a seasoned professional or embarking on a new career in our sector, whether you are driving innovation or striving for equality, whether you have built your career in the UK or your career spans across borders, we are here to celebrate you. If you know someone that fits into one of these categories, we want to hear from you. You can nominate up to two people per category and help those silent heroes get the recognition they deserve. We can't wait to announce the winners this Autumn, so get nominating!"

CIWEM Junior President Emily Clarke tells us:

"We’re looking for our members to put forward individuals passionate about our work across the sector to recognise their efforts, contributions and excellence. I’d love for all our members to think about their colleagues and who they could nominate for the 2024 President's Award. By nominating a colleague, you are helping them to elevate their visibility within the sector and strengthen their career development opportunities. From examples of work-related projects and activities to outstanding contributions towards CIWEM-related activities, I can’t wait to see the entries come through!"

How to nominate

It's free to enter. Nominate a peer or colleague that deserves the highest recognition by submitting a nomination statement of 500 words, here.

The nomination statement should detail how they meet the judging criteria. Nominations should be made for CIWEM members only.

The deadline for 2024 nominations is 12pm Monday 19 August 2024.
