We are looking for a new Chair of the CIWEM Accreditation Board

We are seeking a Chartered Member of CIWEM to join our Accreditation Board (AB) as Chair.

Our AB is responsible for overseeing the procedure by which the Institution carries out our accreditation processes.

As Chair of the AB you will have the opportunity to directly enhance the standards of education and professional development related to the Global Water and Environment sectors. You will Chair a Board of 8 CIWEM members, ensuring that our Accreditation schemes are actively championed throughout academia and industry and best practice is developed and followed.

Scientists, engineers and environmentalists contribute amazing things to this world, and joining as Chair of the AB means you are supporting future generations and helping CIWEM to build a global community of professionals who are dedicated to working for a safe and sustainable world.

Being Chair of this Board makes a very clear statement to your peers that you personally exhibit and uphold excellence within education and professional development. You will gain experience from participating in a committee and governance environment which will elevate your professional work and standing.

A fundamental principle of CIWEM’s culture is that we are accessible to all candidates. We are looking for a diverse range of high-performing and driven candidates, who will bring a wide range of skills, thinking and perspectives to the committee.

The qualities required for the role:

  • -A passion for the quality assurance of education (Higher Education) and professional development.
  • -The desire and determination to help the growth of CIWEM’s Accreditation Schemes and increase the number of Accredited activities.

  • Requirements for the role:

    You must be a Chartered Member of CIWEM
    Be expected to serve for an initial period of 3 years.
    Be an ambassador for CIWEM and champion our work.
    An awareness of university course accreditation and/or creation of course content.
    Awareness of contemporary higher education.
    Have an evidence based understanding of the university and higher education sector and be recognised amongst the academic fraternity knowledge of the sector.
    Contribute to the decisions of CIWEM regarding Accreditation protocol, making the schemes more attractive to both Universities and their students as well as businesses and their employees.
    Engage actively with members of CIWEM and support the Chief Executive and the executive team.
    Be willing to sit on the CIWEM Professional Standards Committee (PSC) to report and advise on Accreditation activities and wider membership opportunities.
