Women in FCERM Award

Women in FCERM Award

Is there someone in your professional life who makes a real difference to gender equality in the workplace? If so we want to hear about them. We’re looking for people at all stages of their career and across our whole sector who are truly championing diversity. We’ll be making two awards:

  • A female professional who, in the last 12 months, has pro-actively influenced and promoted gender balance, diversity and inclusion in their workplace, project or sector. A woman who has inspired other women to opt for a career or promotion in the sector; to overcome challenges they have faced or provided inspirational leadership and is recognised as a role model;
  • A male professional who, in the last 12 months, has acted as a champion for change through the promotion of greater gender balance, diversity and inclusion in their workplace or a man who has inspired women to opt for a career or promotion within the sector; to overcome challenges they have faced or provided inspirational leadership and is recognised as a role model.

Nominations should be made in writing by e-mail to FloodandCoast@environment-agency.gov.uk by Tuesday 30th April 2019 detailing the reasons for the nomination in no more than 250 words. The award is open to all grades across all organisations. Individuals cannot nominate themselves.

The nominations will be judged by the Women in FCERM steering group and the award will be presented at the Flood and Coast conference on 19th June 2019.

Judging criteria

Judges will be looking for an individual who has:

  • Has tackled issues to influence change within their workplace or industry;
  • Made significant, innovative, and outstanding contributions to promoting a culture of Fairness, Inclusion and Respect within their scope of work either in their workplace or beyond;
  • Willingly offer their time and commitment in an open, accessible and motivational way;
  • Make sure that when at work, those around them feel they are able to ‘be themselves’ - free from abuse, harassment or discrimination of any kind, going the extra mile to ensure staff from all backgrounds, provide the same level as positive feedback as each other.
