Pledge to Net Zero Report on Year 2023

In 2019, we at CIWEM declared a Climate and Ecological Emergency. With this declaration came a commitment to review our operations to limit our carbon emissions. We are a signatory of the Pledge to Net Zero, an initiative for charities and business of the environmental sector to walk the walk of climate action. The Pledge is an opportunity for us to inspire and be inspired, but also to be accountable and transparent.

This report outlines our carbon footprint for 2023 and our emission reduction targets and strategy. It highlights the work we have already done to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the opportunities to do better as we follow this path to a more sustainable CIWEM.

We are proud to be able to share this journey with our members. Climate Change has never been more present in the everyday challenge the water and environmental managers face and we must be part of the solution.
