Membership workshop and Glyn Ellis Presentation
Competition
By Briony Harvey
The inaugural Glyn Ellis presentation competition was well
attended by a range of both CIWEM members and non-members who were
keen to discuss chartership routes with CIWEM.
Two of the head office membership team (Tom and Laura) had come
along for the day to undertake one-to-one membership advice
sessions which were very well received by all. Tom also ran a
competencies workshop and Q&A session which people felt was
very beneficial as it gave an opportunity to talk to other people
at the same stage of chartership and to discuss various routes
forward.
Five presenters took part in the Glyn Ellis competition covering a
wide range of subjects from drought management to RAMSAR status
allocation. The competition proved stiff and the judges, which
included Trish Ellis, struggled to choose between the various
entrants. After much debate, the first prize was awarded to Abhay
Mehta from MWH for his presentation on Asset Management, and Hannah
Austin from APEM was awarded second prize for her drought
presentation.
Many thanks to all those who took part in the competition, both
the presenters and the audience, and a special thanks to Trish
Ellis for attending in Glyn's memory to be a judge and to present
the prizes.
